Twenty years ago, the congregation of Providence Church in Powhatan made a generous gift of a portion of the church’s property to serve those in need in their community.
Managed by the Coalition of Powhatan Churches, a house on that property provides temporary shelter for families who have experienced a hardship. The home offers a bit of respite while the occupants are saving for and securing a more permanent home.
After the most recent family moved on in September, the Providence congregation took on the task of readying the house for new residents. They cleaned, caulked, repainted, repaired, and replaced so that the next family to move in would feel welcomed in the warmth of God’s love.
