SUMMARY:Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Church Safety Training
DESCRIPTION:The Presbytery of the James has invited Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to lead a training course on church safety that will cover situations of active shooter\, fire and other disasters. Training will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.\, and will conclude at 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Cost is $15 per person\, limit of 60 participants. Registration deadline is February 29. Minimum registrants: 12. Location TBD. \nIncluded in training: \n\nLook at data on actual risk of armed intruders at faith-based institutions\nIncreased risk to churches from hate groups opposed to social justice ministries\nSecurity role of ushers and greeters\nALICE Training Institute strategies and drill for surviving violent intruder situations\nPreventing mass shootings with threat assessments and mental health counseling\nBasics of “Stop the Bleed” first aid training\nCreating a preparedness/security committee and developing a plan for your church
