Do you passionately pray for the elimination of racism in church and in society? Do you believe we are called to build the “beloved community”? Are you interested and available to lead the Presbytery of the James in this important work?
If that sounds like your calling, we invite you to explore joining the Presbytery of the James (POJ) AntiRacism Committee (ARC).
At its Stated Meeting on October 21, the POJ authorized the formation of a new Antiracism Committee charged to lead the POJ in addressing racism and other forms of discrimination in church and society. The ARC will:
- Craft an antiracism policy for the presbytery’s consideration and implementation;
- Design and conduct antiracism training opportunities for the presbytery as a whole and for individual congregations; and
- Report at each stated meeting on the presbytery’s process and progress.
An initial organizational and informational meeting of the ARC will be held on Thursday, November 30, at 10:30 a.m., in the POJ office and via ZOOM.
If you would like to learn more about this new work, contact the stated clerk. You will receive details to participate in person or via ZOOM.
