The Committee on Nominations seeks nominees to represent Presbytery of the James at General Assembly, June 20-27, 2020, in Baltimore, Maryland.
The positions to be filled are six alternate commissioners and two young adult advisory delegates (one delegate and one alternate).
Nominate ruling elders, ministers of Word and Sacrament, or young adults with gifts for this important denominational service through the online nomination form.
Individuals may self-nominate using the same form.
The deadline for applications is March 15, 2019.
A form for additional information will be sent to all nominees when names are received.
Alternate Commissioners

All ministers on the active, Honorably Retired, validated ministry, and member-at-large rolls of this Presbytery are eligible for nomination. Nominees shall be enrolled in the Presbytery of the James for at least three years immediately preceding the time of the meeting of the GA to which she/he is elected as a commissioner. To be eligible, a teaching elder shall have attended at least four of the Presbytery meetings during the two calendar years prior to election.
A ruling elder is eligible for election when the session of the congregation from which he or she is nominated shall have sent commissioners to at least four of the Presbytery meetings during the two calendar years prior to election.
Alternate commissioners are customarily nominated to serve as principal commissioners to the next General Assembly (2022), but must be prepared to serve in 2020, if needed.
Young Adult Advisory Delegates
- One delegate to serve in 2020
- One alternate to serve, if needed, in 2020
Nominees shall be active members of a church in Presbytery of the James, between the ages of 17 and 23 on the date the GA convenes, recommended by the session of his/her church, and invited by the session to submit an application to the Committee on Nominations.
