On October 22, Providence Church in Gum Spring celebrated 275 years of ministry with an educational and fun community event. Heritage Day highlighted the time when the church started in 1747.
Participants enjoyed Brunswick stew and cornbread, bluegrass music, reenactments, and craft demonstrations. Children had special activities just for them.
Providence’s church building is the oldest Presbyterian church in continual use in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
