Presbytery of the James will convene the 118th meeting in person at Second Presbyterian Church, Richmond and via Zoom at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Agenda
The meeting will include the following:
- 9:30 a.m. - Call to order and prayer
- 10:00 a.m. - Worship Service including the Lord’s Supper and Necrology
- Reports: Stated Clerk, GA Commissioners, Mission Council, Trustees, Anti-Racism Committee
- 12:00 p.m. Break for lunch
- Reports: Commission on Ministry, Committee on Preparation for Ministry, Mission and Service Team, Leadership Connections Team, Committee on Nominations, Camp Hanover
- 2:30 p.m. - Adjournment and closing prayer
Check-in for in-person attendees begins at 8:30 a.m. The Zoom meeting will open at 9:00 a.m. for virtual participants. An orientation for all attendees will occur at 9:15.
The meeting will break between 12:00 and 12:45 for lunch.

Registration
Online registration closed at noon on Friday, October 18. All attendees must register by this date. In-person participants who miss the deadline may register onsite Saturday morning.
During registration, please indicate whether you plan to participate in person or via Zoom. This helps meeting organizers coordinate appropriate resources. All participants, whether they plan to attend in person or virtually, will receive log-in information for Zoom as a precaution. If you do not receive an email confirmation from Zoom within a few minutes of completing registration, please contact the POJ office.
Selecting in person or virtual participation during registration does not lock you into that option; we understand circumstances may change between the date you register and the meeting. If registration is still open, register again to override your previous choice. If you wake up feeling under the weather on the day of the meeting, but still wish to join us, we will welcome you via Zoom.
Once you have registered for the meeting, you will receive an email confirmation, which will include a link to join the meeting. Use that link to join the meeting if you are participating virtually. Disregard the link if you are attending in person.
All ministers and sessions are reminded that email excuses are required for absences to be approved. Email a request to be excused to [email protected].
Motions/Amendments
To make a motion during the meeting, please complete a motion form and submit it to the stated clerk. If possible, please present it to the stated clerk prior to making your motion.
For in-person attendees, motion forms will be available at the registration table and near the microphone in the meeting space. Present your completed form to the stated clerk.
For Zoom attendees, email your completed form to the stated clerk.

Church Location
Second Presbyterian Church is located at 5 N 5th St Richmond, VA 23219.
Facility Accessibility
For those with mobility concerns, there are two ways to enter the building. If you park on the street, you can come in the courtyard along 5th Street and enter through the atrium door. If you park in the deck, use the elevator to get to the first floor, then use the parking deck door to enter the church. All meetings will be on the main floor of the church, with access to bathrooms.
Parking
- Second Presbyterian Church is an Earth Care Congregation, so we highly encourage everyone to carpool as much as possible. Parking downtown is often more limited on Saturdays.
Street parking will be available. Pay attention to the time-limit of your space.
The parking deck will be available.
Use the HOURLY entrance, the SECOND gate (closest to the church and Main St.) to enter the deck.
Take a ticket as you enter, which will be validated inside with a sticker. Stickers will be available at registration. Please leave the entrance level spots available for those with mobility issues.
Child Care
Child care is not available for this meeting.
Meals
Second Church will provide lunches, and there will be vegetarian and gluten-free options. Love gifts will be accepted the day of the meeting.
Wi-Fi
Download the packet to your laptop, tablet or other device prior to arriving at the church. Refrain from connecting to the Wi-Fi to reserve maximum bandwidth for POJ staff and volunteers running the virtual side of the meeting. We appreciate your cooperation.
